This Ceramic work is fired in a wood-fired kiln using traditional methods. The flame's flow and temperature changes produce subtle tints in the work. It can be used for various purposes, such as sake and hot tea cups. The name “Tadanoumi-yu” comes from the area in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where the climbing kiln used to fire this work is located.
Makimasa Imai is the son of Masayuki Imai, a famous potter who received the Order of Cultural Merits. He is also a highly acclaimed potter in Japan and abroad.
